Elfie hat :]

So I havent been keeping up with this blog, even though I swore to myself I would!!! But I am vowing to at least TRY harder after the new year :].
I am officially at my third trimester! This little girl  is such a kicker but I love every minute of it :]. I have finally started my trek back into the sewing world and have actually done pretty well so far. I decided to use cloth diapers not too long ago and found a forum about sewing them yourself so I thought I would give it a try. I made my first CD last week and its got to be the CUTEST thing I have ever seen!! I don't think I'll be able to use it just because its not made very well, but its a start! I also made an adorable little Elfie hat and a cute little headband with a flower out of this bamboo silk yarn that I love! They are just too cute. The hat needs a little work (I didn't start to get the hang of the hat until about halfway into it) so I'm going to try and make up a pattern for it after I figure out some issues I have with it.
Other than all of that, Christmas was great! I got what I wanted (a new camera!) and gave some awesome gifts. This had to be the best Christmas on my part, it was the first one that I could actually buy good gifts for everyone and I loved it! So I hope y'all all had a fabulous Christmas, and have a Happy New Year soon!!

So I've started a blanket! Its an adorable pattern that I found on ravelry and here is the link. http://solgrim.blogspot.com/2009/06/sirkel-i-kvadrat.html
I'm doing it pretty much exactly the same but maybe adding a border to the finished blanket, not sure yet though..ill decide that when the time comes. but as i go along i will definitely post up some pictures!

I'm so excited though, I got sooo much new yarn today! I got some fantastic cotton yarn that is just so soft and easy to work with, I absolutely love it! Thats what I'm using for the blanket. Then I got some bamboo yarn to make a few hats and some cute bulky yarn to perfect my hat pattern..so lots of crocheting in my future! It works though, seeing as I have nothing else to do!! Happy crocheting y'all :]

First official pattern made by me!!

So I have officially created my very own baby hat :]. Its pretty cute if i do say so myself, and could be used for a boy or a girl. Really simple and easily adjustable! I love it!! (So its officially my second creation, but the first one didnt turn out that great if you know what I mean). So if anyone is interested...here it is!!!

(ch 2 does NOT count as a dc in this pattern) This had was worked with bulky yarn and a 6.5 hook.

Start with a Magic chain
Rnd 1: ch 2, 10 dc then sl st into top of first dc
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc (20 dc)
Rnd 3: ch 2, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st repeat around, join with sl st in top of first dc (27)
Rnd 4: ch 2, 1 dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st and repeat around, join with sl st in top of first dc (32)
Rnds 5-7: ch 2, 1 dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc (32)
Rnds 8-9: ch 2, fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st (alternating around) join with sl st in top of first fpdc
finish and weave in end.

you cant really see the effects of the fpdc and bpdc in the pictures, but i think its mainly due to the color of the yarn.
now with hats i always make them then end up flipping them inside out after im done, it just looks better to me. the inside is always smoother. but thats completely up to you! you can adjust this by making row 4 a 1 dc in next 2 sts then 2 dc in next st...and going from there. if you find anything wrong with it be sure and let me know!!

Yay me!!

So I have officially created my first project free hand and without a pattern!! It is so cute too, I'm very happy with the result. I have made a Baby Diaper Pouch :]! I saw a tutorial on how to make one with fabric and a sewing machine so I decided to make one with yarn and a crochet hook! I did search the web to see if anyone had tried this specific thing before and posted it but I couldn't find anything that was what I wanted so I made it myself. All I have left to do on it is to sew the strap on and buy a button then it is all done! I will definitely post up a picture or two of it on my next post and I'll put up the blanket and matching hat I finished the other day as well. Happy sleeping lovelies :]

Thanksgiving week...

So this break has been interesting to say the least. With 11 people in the house and only two showers...it was great fun! But on a lighter note, I finished my very first crochet baby blanket! I will post up a picture as soon as I can get my camera up and running again. I must say though, I am extremely proud of myself for making this blanket, I think it turned out amazing! I guess I should start off with a little bit about me, seeing as how this is my first post and all :]

Well, I am 21 and expecting my baby girl Oakleigh in March! I have just began re-learning the art of crochet and it has been a pretty rough start, but I'm coming along quite nicely :]. Hopefully I can get to the point where I will be able to create my own patterns and all that but it might take a while so just me patient with me! So for anyone who is interested...this is the beginning of a long and tedious friendship, but in the end it will definitely be worth every hardship!
